About friends of Pine Gully
The "Friends of Pine Gully” group was established to assist the Council and the Seacliff community in the challenging task of managing the Pine Gully Reserve, and to restore its native vegetation by controlling weeds and replanting appropriate species. These activities are ongoing and are supported by Holdfast Bay Council environmental team and Trees for Life.
Long-term objectives
The group aims to continue to promote Pine Gully as a priority to our community, to remedy its environmental issues, and to secure an enhanced cultural and leisure reserve that will benefit the broader community.
Short-term objectives
Current and ongoing challenges in the Gully include:
accessibility and maintenance of pathways for pedestrians and bike riders
erosion control and stormwater management (being addressed by Council)
weed control
protection of native vegetation
rehabilitation of wildlife habitat (including recent establishment of micro-bat and bird nesting boxes)
provision of heritage interpretations
